Hershey's (Dubai; 2014) elongated pennies

Last week, my wife and I went to Dubai Mall to shop for Christmas gifts.  At the Hershey's store, there was a machine where you could get four different elongated pennies for 10 dirhams (a little less than US$3) each.

The Track, Meydan Golf (Dubai; 2014) ball markers

After visiting Emirates Golf Club, on my way home I dropped by The Track, Meydan Golf and I was able to purchase two new colors for its dome ball markers.

Emirates Golf Club (Dubai; 2014) ball markers

After seeing the Dubai Open, I went to the Emirates Golf Club and I was able to purchase several new ball markers:  the one on the top left came with a medallion while the one on the top right came with golf gloves; there were seven different colors for the dome markers.

Dubai Open (2014) ball markers

I dropped by the first edition of the Dubai Open (final leg of the Asian Tour) held at The Els Club, and I was able to purchase three ball markers.

Montgomerie (Dubai; 2014) ball marker

Before dropping by the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters at the Emirates Golf Club, I dropped by The Montgomerie and purchased a ball marker that came with Callaway balls.

Golf House (Dubai; 2014) ball markers

Over the weekend, I went to Jebel Ali Golf Club to purchase some ball markers.  There were none bearing the club's logo, but there were other ball markers bearing the image of a camel:
  • blue-green
  • neon green
  • beige
  • magenta
  • cyan
  • blue
  • violet
  • gray
  • black
  • pink
There was also another one that only came with Callaway balls :

Butch Harmon School of Golf (Dubai; 2014) ball marker

The school was closed when I tried to go there, but fortunately, I was able to purchase the marker above in The Els Club clubhouse.

The Els Club (Dubai; 2014) ball markers

After seeing the Dubai World Championship, I visited the nearby The Els Club, and I purchased several dome markers.  The black and amber ones have gold lettering.  On the other hand, the orange, yellow, and lime green markers have silver lettering.  Furthermore, the orange and yellow markers don't have the trademark symbol (™) in the reverse while the lime green does.

Dubai World Championship (2014) ball marker

I went to Jumeirah Golf Estates earlier today to see the Dubai World Championship.  There were at least four poker chip designs (if I remember correctly), but I don't collect chips.  Anyway, this and last year's ball markers may appear identical at first, but they actually differ in at least three ways:

Detail 2013 2014
surface somewhat darker;
somewhat coarse
somewhat shinier
and brighter; smooth
rim thicker (@0.10cm) thinner (@0.05cm)
"DUBAI" lettering lavender beige

Al Badia Golf Club (Dubai; 2014) ball markers

Two weeks ago, I went to Al Badia Golf Club to check out the Grand Final of the European Challenge Tour.  Unfortunately, there were no golf accessories bearing the Tour's logo that were for sale.  But I was able to purchase nine new ball markers from the club:
  • one crest marker
  • two double-sided markers (black and white)
  • six dome markers (black, blue, green, orange, pink, red)

assorted ball markers (UAE; 2014)

My wife and I went to Dubai Mall last weekend to do some shopping.  As usual, I dropped by the Golf House outlet, and I was surprised that its floor area had been halved.  I've been so busy with work lately that I haven't had the chance to go around the UAE to scout new ball markers, so I was fortunate that Golf House was selling markers from its outlets in four golf clubs:
  • The Montgomerie
  • Jebel Ali Golf Resort
  • Abu Dhabi City Golf Club
  • Arabian Ranches Golf Club

Dubai Expo 2020 golf balls

I don't collect golf balls, and I have no intention of starting a collection.  It just so happens that I acquired the above golf balls in Dubai before the city won its bid to host Expo 2020.  If I remember correctly, the balls were being given out at the Emirates Golf Club during old editions of both the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and the Dubai Desert Classic.

Dubai Creek (2013) ball markers

After visiting The Track, Meydan Golf...I stopped by the Wafi Mall to check out the Tee & Putt indoor minigolf course.  It does not sell ball markers, but it does have pencils with the establishment's name--so, if you're collecting pencils from golf courses, do drop by there sometime.  Afterwards, I crossed the floating bridge to reach Dubai Creek.  I learned from one of the golf shop assistants there that the golf shop in Emirates Golf Club is a sister company--so it's no surprise then that the newest ball markers from both golf clubs have the same basic shapes/designs.  BTW, the crest-shaped ball marker has gray lettering while the dome ball marker is black with a silver rim.
